What are the safety protocols that will be in place?
The 2021/22 season will be our first in-person season since the COVID pandemic. The safety of our artists, staff, and our audiences is our first priority. Since the beginning of our virtual recordings, our artists and crew have worked more than 140 days in person with no workplace transmissions. We will approach our audience safety plans with that same care. It is difficult to predict today what every safety procedure may look like over the course of the next year. However, masks will be required for attending any Seattle Opera performance in our 2021/22 season regardless of vaccination status.
Further, we will follow the guidelines from the Washington State Performing Arts Reopening Plan. We will communicate safety procedures to you over email in advance of your performance and on our website. Please sign up for our email list so you can be sure to have the latest information. By subscribing to our 2021/22 season you agree to abide by the COVID safety procedures in place at McCaw Hall and the Opera Center at the time of your performances.
If Washington state moves COVID reopening phases, will my seat location change?
The invoice you received in the mail reflects the seats that you originally had for the 2020/21 season before it was adjusted to a virtual season. It is conceivable that we will have to reseat our subscribers in order to comply with capacity restrictions for performances in the 2021/22 season. If this is required, we will seat you as close as possible to your current seats and/or at seats of similar value. We appreciate your patience and flexibility.
Will you offer streaming options if I want to watch from home?
This is something we are looking into for our subscribers for the fall and we will get back to you when we know more.
What happened to the Preferred Seating program?
Seattle Opera is committed to accessibility in opera. We’ve decided to change our subscription ticket pricing for the 2021/22 season and will no longer have a required preferred seating gift associated with premium seats. We believe this will help make subscribing to Seattle Opera more accessible as we reopen for in person performances. This change will not impact your ability to renew the same seats you have had previously. You may want to take this opportunity to look at premium seats that you haven’t thought about moving into previously.
How can I use the credit on my account?
Any credit that you have on your Seattle Opera account is reflected on your invoice or at checkout online. That credit can be used today or in the future for purchases through May 31, 2022. This credit amount includes any tickets you requested to have held as a credit since the start of the COVID pandemic including the value of your Pagliacci & Cavalleria rusticana tickets from August 2020. Credits can be redeemed online, by phone, or by mail.
When/how will I receive my tickets?
Tickets will be distributed differently this year due to the pandemic and may arrive on a show by show basis. You will be prompted to choose your preferred delivery method when renewing. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we highly recommend you select to receive your tickets digitally. Thank you for your understanding.
What if I need to cancel?
Due to the COVID pandemic, we will have a more flexible cancellation policy in place for subscribers until December 31, 2021. As a subscriber, you may cancel an opera in your package up to one week prior to your performance date and receive a refund or have the value of the tickets held on your Seattle Opera account to use in the future. Seattle Opera will retain the $15 order fee. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing. No refunds will be issued after December 31, 2021.
I made a donation with my renewal. When will I receive a receipt?
You will receive an acknowledgment of your donation by mail or email within two weeks of the final payment.
What if I request a seat or series change? When will I hear more?
If you request a seat or series change, you will receive a confirmation notice by email later in the summer which includes your new seating location. Depending on your selection, payment in full or your first installment of your payment plan will be charged upon receipt of your order.
When will I be able to exchange my tickets this season if I need to?
Due to the COVID pandemic causing so many unknowns, we will not be offering early exchanges this season. Exchanges will start later in the summer.
Why do I have to choose three performance dates for Orpheus and Eurydice?
If you select Orpheus and Eurydice as part of your package your performance will take place in Tagney Jones Hall at the Opera Center. Due to limited capacity we may not be able to guarantee the date currently listed on your renewal. You will be prompted to select three preferred dates for your performance later in the renewal process.
Why is Orpheus and Eurydice not at McCaw Hall?
Opera is not only for large performance spaces. It can shine just as much in a more intimate venue like Tagney Jones Hall at the Opera Center. With only 200 seats, everyone will be very close to the artists creating a unique experience for our subscribers.
Why do I have different seats for Blue?
The performance schedule for Blue only has one Sunday performance. So if you normally subscribe to the 2nd Sunday matinee series, for Blue, you have been assigned a seat to the 1st Sunday matinee. Your seat is as close as possible to your regular subscription seats.
How do I use payment plans?
Convenient automatic payment plans allow you to spread your payments over several months, an option popular with our subscribers paying by credit card. It's flexible and free—no interest or additional service charges.
You can set up your interest-free payments when you order online or call Audience Services at 206.389.7676 from 10 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday. At a minimum, your payment today must include the $20 down payment. Payment plans may only be set up using a credit or debit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We are only able to accept one credit card for this payment. The card must be valid through one month past the last scheduled payment. Your final payment must be scheduled at least two weeks prior to the start of the first opera in your season ticket package.
You may contact Audience Services at 206.389.7676 or email@example.com to change the arrangements of your payment plan at any time as long as your final payment is scheduled at least two weeks prior to the start of the first opera in your subscription. With our convenient automatic payment plan, there is no need to call or send back an invoice to us; your card will automatically be charged on the days set up for the payment plan.
If you select a payment plan, your season tickets will be mailed after your final payment is made.
Will I still get free parking?
If you renew for the full season by June 28, you are eligible for free parking for your four mainstage operas. You will be prompted to select your parking before you check out.
Can I choose only 3 operas?
Yes! To purchase a 3-opera package simply select "Request a Different Series." Next, select the combination of operas you want to attend on your same series dates. On the following page, select your same seating area and then let us know that you want your same seats and series (less 1 opera) in the special request box at the bottom of the seat selection page.
Will I still have access to Subscriber Benefits such as ticket discounts like Bring-a-Friend and single ticket discounts?
Our concern for the safety or our staff, artists, and audience is our first priority. Therefore all benefits we offer are dependent on capacity and safety guidelines set by Seattle Opera and King County Public Health. If capacity allows us to offer additional tickets at a discount to our patrons we will inform you as soon as possible.
Can I renew in person?
Yes. Visit us in person at the Opera Center Monday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM starting Monday, May 24.
