Watching on your TV

Watching subscriber performances on your TV

We are excited to offer exclusive content for 2020/21 season ticket holders. In order to keep these performance exclusive you will not be able to search for these performances on the YouTube app or website. Rather, you will have a link to a private YouTube video. It's definitely OK to watch the Fall 2020 Season on your computer or tablet - many of these devices have excellent sound and picture. However, there are several ways you can watch these performances on your TV if you would prefer.  We have outlined a few different ways to do so.

Our instructions all require you to log into your Seattle Opera My Account page to access your subscriber videos and that you have a smart TV or streaming device attached to your TV (Roku, Fire Stick, Apple TV, etc.). We have provided step-by-step instructions to help you and a test video on your Seattle Opera account so you can test this process on your devices. While we have tried to be as comprehsive as possible with our instructions, there are many variables with technology and we can't guarantee that this will work on all combinations.

Casting from your device to your TV

The first set of instructions are about “casting”- a functionality that all YouTube apps have to send video directly to a TV that has the YouTube app.  It’s a fun feature and if you haven’t tried it out before it works very well on all your favorite YouTube videos! You can use a computer, smartphone, or tablet to cast to your TV and we have provided step-by-step instructions

"Like" A video to watch on your TV

The second set of instructions is about how to “like” a video on your phone, computer, or tablet and then watch it on your TV. You will need to be logged in to the same account in your YouTube app on both your TV and your phone/computer/laptop. If you have an account with Google or Gmail, those credentials will work even if you have never logged in to YouTube. If you do not have a YouTube, or Google account you will need to create one for these instructions to work.
