Traverse made her headline-grabbing Seattle Opera mainstage debut in 2018’s Beatrice & Benedict , stepping into the role of Hero at the last minute to great acclaim. The Seattle Times named Traverse as the "scene-stealer" of the performance "charm[ing] the audience with her voice and stage presence, both lovely and unaffected." She returned to McCaw Hall earlier this year as the music-loving Chan Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird. A frequent contributor to the company’s Programs & Parnerships initiatives, Traverse tours Washington state in various family-friendly operatic productions.
Ms. Traverse’s recital program highlights her varied repertoire, including French and American art songs, selections by Sondheim, and beloved opera arias by Mozart and Puccini.
The partner organization for this recital is Spectrum Dance Theater one of the Pacific Northwest's most revered dance companies, serving a racially diverse community through its performances, outreach, and school. Seattle Opera is honored to have worked with Spectrum previously, and to have had the brilliant Donald Byrd as a choreographer for Semele, Aida, Julius Caesar and Charlie Parker's Yardbird. Donald Byrd is a TONY-nominated and Bessie-Award winning choreographer—known for The Color Purple on Broadway, as well as The Minstrel Show, and Harlem Nutcracker.
