Luretta Bybee as the First Norn; Asher Fisch conducts the orchestra of Seattle Opera
Luretta Bybee made her Seattle Opera debut singing three characters in Prokofiev’s War and Peace in 1990. Her other roles for the company have included Amanda in the world premiere of Amelia, Dame Quickly in Falstaff, the title role in Carmen, Paula in Florencia en el Amazonas, Mary in Der Fliegende Holländer, and Klytämnestra in Elektra. Bybee has sung the Rossini roles of Isabella in L’italiana in Algeri at New York City Opera and Oper der Stadt Köln, Isaura in Tancredi at Frankfurt Opera, and Falliero in the US premiere of Bianca e Falliero at Florida Grand Opera. Other roles include Carmen at New York City Opera, Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia in Montréal, Amneris in Aida at Nashville Opera, Herodias in Salome at Cleveland and Arizona operas, Dalila in Samson et Dalila at Memphis Opera, and Fricka in Die Walküre in New Orleans. Upcoming engagements include Mary at Opera Carolina.
