Student and Senior Rush

How do I sign up?
Each student and senior will be required to sign up to become a member of our rush program. After submitting a form at the box office, each person will receive a member card via email to use to purchase future rush tickets. Students with a valid ID may purchase one $20 ticket. Seniors 65 and over with valid ID may purchase one $40 ticket. Download Student and Senior rush sign up form.

When are tickets available and how do I purchase them?
Rush tickets are subject to availability. Rush tickets are available only when we have at least 50 seats open for sale the day of the show. Once we have less than 50 seats open, we will no longer offer rush tickets. When available, rush tickets are available starting at 5:30 p.m. for evening performances and noon for matinee performances. Each person must be present with valid ID to purchase a rush ticket. We will not sell more than one rush ticket per person. Rush members will be presented with the best seat available at the rush discount. Due to the high demand of rush tickets, we are unable to allow rush ticket-buyers to select seats. If you have specific seating requirements, please purchase a full-price ticket. Seat options are at the discretion of Seattle Opera. Rush is not available in Dress Circle nor the $25 seats. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Rush availability for 2015/16 operas will be posted approximately one week before each production's Opening Night.

This page will be updated whenever a change occurs. A performance is listed as unavailable once it reaches the 50 ticket threshold.

Standing Room

We offer standing room tickets for all performances at McCaw Hall. For the main season, tickets are $15 per person. Standing room is in the back of the Orchestra, and you do, literally, stand throughout the performance (you cannot sit in any unoccupied seats, but there is a padded rail to lean against). Standing room can be purchased by phone or also in person at our administrative offices at 1020 John Street on the day of show when the ticket office opens for business (9:00 a.m. for weekday performance days, and Noon for Saturday performance days). Because Seattle Opera does not conduct regular box office hours on Sundays, Standing Room tickets for a Sunday performance will be available to purchase on the Saturday prior to the Sunday performance. Standing room tickets are not available for purchase online. Please be aware that the English translations are not visible from the standing room location in the back of the Orchestra seating, and that availability is extremely limited.

Children's Tickets and Family Day

At least once a year, Seattle Opera designates a Sunday "Family Day" matinee. For these specially designated performances, all students 18 and under in the company of an adult pay only $15 for most any seat. Family Days also feature special student-oriented activities, both pre-show and during intermission. Please note: valid student ID or proof of age is required for entry. One full-priced adult ticket MUST be purchased with EVERY student ticket order—limit four $15 student tickets for every full-priced adult ticket purchased.

  • Family Day will be Sunday, October 18, 2015 for The Pearl Fishers. Tickets go on sale on May 26, 2015. (Please note that $15 tickets are not available in the Dress Circle, Orchestra Aisle, and $25 Second Tier seating sections.)

Military Discounts

Military with valid ID can save 15% on single tickets to any Seattle Opera mainstage performance at McCaw Hall (maximum of two discounted tickets per Military ID). This discount is not valid with other discounts, promotions, gift certificates or on previously purchased tickets, and is subject to availability. Not valid in the Dress Circle Preferred, Orchestra Center Aisle or on our $25 tickets. Mention promo code 'MILITARY15' when ordering over the phone at 206.389.7676 (not available online; phone and in person sales only). Military ID must be presented when picking up the tickets at the Box Office.

Teen Tix

Seattle Opera is a proud participant in Seattle Center's Teen Tix program. When available, enrolled teens can purchase opera tickets for $5 on the day of the opera, one ticket per member. Overall Teen Tix allotment is limited to 12 seats per performance. Teen Tix tickets are subject to availability and are only available when Student and Senior Rush tickets are also available (See above for availability). If a performance is sold out or close to sold out, Teen Tix will not be available. Please check the Student and Senior Rush current availability listed above. Day-of-show ticket availability at Seattle Opera is often limited. We strongly recommend you call the ticket office in advance to inquire if there will be Teen Tix tickets available for any given performance. Because Seattle Opera does not conduct regular box office hours on Sundays, Teen Tix members who wish to purchase tickets for a Sunday performance may call to purchase tickets on the Saturday prior to the Sunday performance they wish to see.
