“Confessions” Release Party September 26

Seattle Opera’s opera newcomer is a rookie no longer—and she has the video to prove it.

Audiences followed Cassidy Quinn Brettler, the host of “Confessions of a First-Time Operagoer,” as she learned about and attended a production of the Ring cycle this summer. Now they can see the finished product at a release party on September 26.

The release party on September 26 will be held at Seattle’s Central Cinema, and will feature two screenings of the video, starting at 7:00 p.m. Following each screening will be a Q&A with Brettler and director Sami Kubo, as well as performances by a Seattle Opera Young Artist.

A film crew from Seattle-based Reel Grrls accompanied Brettler throughout her summer adventures onstage and backstage with the cast and crew. They filmed over 60 hours of footage, which they used to create the 18-minute documentary. The Confessions video project is one of many initiatives Seattle Opera has developed as a Wallace Foundation Excellence Award grant recipient. The four-year grant is geared toward innovative technological approaches to audience-building.

Admission to the release party is free but space is limited, so please RSVP by emailing tickets@seattleopera.org or by calling the box office at 206.389.7676. For more information, or to catch up on the “Confessions” project, visit www.seattleopera.org/confessions.
