Calling all Ring Rookies!

Seattle Opera seeks a host for a reality-style video project, titled Confessions of a First-time Operagoer. A partnership with Seattle-based Reel Grrls, a media training program for girls, Confessions will be one of the first projects Seattle Opera implements as a Wallace Excellence Award recipient.

Through video applications, the company hopes to find a Ring novice between the ages of 18 and 30 years old to spend some time with Seattle Opera—taking behind-the-scenes peeks at the creation of the opera, mingling with Ring lovers and artists, and attending the company’s renowned production—to create a reality-show-style, 10-minute documentary at the end of the summer chronicling the host’s experience.

Application begins on May 1 and closes on May 22 (Richard Wagner’s birthday), during which applicants will need to submit a 1-2 minute video telling Seattle Opera why they should be the host of Confessions. On June 1, the top five videos will be posted on Seattle Opera’s website for a public vote, and the winner will be announced June 6.

Are you the perfect host?
