Adult Education Programs

Through a wide range of outreach programs, the Seattle Opera Education Department strives to enrich the opera-going experience of people who already know and love the artform and to introduce opera to newcomers of all ages. With internationally recognized opera experts and lecturers on staff, the Department is among the largest and most active of its type among arts organizations in the country, producing up to 250 events each year.

Pre-Performance Lectures

Before the curtain rises on the Seattle Opera stage, patrons have the opportunity to attend witty and fast-paced pre-performance lecture called "Overtures to the Opera."

Free Public Lectures

Prior to opening any production in Seattle, lecturers Perry Lorenzo and Jonathan Dean make rounds all over the Puget Sound area to present free one-hour lectures with musical excerpts to a variety of audiences.

Behind the Scenes with Speight Jenkins

We give you the rare opportunity to delve deeper into our operas in an exciting forum with renowned artists, hosted by Speight Jenkins, as well as to hear from the man himself about his approach to a given production.

BRAVO! Club

With a mission to develop new generations of opera lovers in Seattle, BRAVO! Club provides its 20- and 30-something members with a variety of exciting social and educational events and discounted performance tickets.
