Backstage with Archie Drake, the 'Second Prisoner'; Kimberly Scott, Jane's makeup artist; Ron Erickson, Kevin Lagan's dresser; and Cindy Sabye, Jane's dresser.

Tuesday was a fairly busy day, first taking back the rental car then finally picking up our car after a week in the shop. I then went to the local NPR station, to do a live radio interview. The interviewer, Dave Beck, has been a friend of my husband's family for a long time. I have talked with him on his radio show before, though this was the first time I had done it live. He asked interesting questions and I enjoyed our 20-minute chat.

I then came home and my husband and I went out to see the movie A Mighty Wind. It's a "mockumentary" in the same vein as Best in Show, but this time about folk singers. It was a very funny movie and we had a good time. We then went for dinner and came home and watched the Mariners beat the Yankees.

Today was a typical show day, meaning I got up quite late and then took it easy through the day. I warmed up my voice gradually during the day, but was feeling much more calm than on opening night, which is normal.

My husband cooked delicious pasta and we ate before leaving for the theater around 5:45 p.m. I was pretty much the first member of the cast in the theater, as no one takes very long to get ready, so people tend to turn up a little later.

The performance went very well and I enjoyed myself. It's much easier to enjoy performances once the pressure of opening night is over and everyone was very pleased. One part of the set got stuck when it was supposed to be pushed on, and Clare Burovac the stage manager and her staff immediately made decisions as to how best to cope, which they did very well. Eventually the set moved as it should and probably few in the audience really noticed. As someone said to me as I watched from the wings, "This is why we do live theater!"

The audience was incredibly appreciative at the end, and it was nice during the final ensemble to see many smiling faces as Leonore and Florestan were reunited.

I was very quick in leaving the theater and for the first time ever after a show, got caught in the traffic leaving the parking lot, but we were home in very good time and grabbed a bite to eat and watched a little TV before the tiredness hit me.
