Regular morning, then into rehearse for 1:30. I dropped my husband off on the way so he could do some shopping, and arrived ready for the first run of Act 1. It seemed a long time since we did this, and in fact it's almost a week since we looked at bits of Act I though some of it we have done since then. During Rocco's aria, I knew that my brain had gone on strike and I had no clue what my next line was. I knew it started with "Rocco", but then so do most of my lines. It's very odd how the mind will suddenly just stop sometimes. All singers know that feeling and when there is music involved usually the subconscious gets to work and the line will pop up at the last minute. With spoken dialogue this doesn't happen as you don't have the music to help. The other help with music is that it is much easier to make something up, and many singers I know, myself included, have done this. Anyway, I received a prompt and carried on. Actually for a first run through the act, it went well and I think everyone was pleased.
My husband came to meet me after the rehearsal and we went home. Watched a little TV and relaxed, both feeling quite tired. My husband's sister and her husband came down from Whidbey Island and we had tea and a chat. Then we went to Jenny's house for take-away and to see the remnants of the birthday party for Max, who was 6 today. We were sorry we had not been able to attend the afternoon party with twelve 6 year olds!
After dinner we played Pit, a game I didn't know before moving to the US and now love. It's loud crazy and I wouldn't want to play it before having to sing as I would probably be voiceless, but we had fun and wore ourselves out, so home not too late and straight to bed now I think.
