Don Pasquale

An immediate success when it premiered in Paris in 1843, Don Pasquale is one of Donizetti's most delightful comic operas.

The aging, wealthy bachelor Don Pasquale decides to recapture his lost youth by taking as his bride the charming and confident Norina, who is disguised as Sofronia. To make things even a bit more lively, Sofronia (Norina) just happens to be in love with Don Pasquale's nephew. Aided by an empathetic friend, the two lovers hatch a scheme to trick the old man and to teach him a lesson or two about life, love, and happiness.
