Un Ballo In Maschera

It's grand opera at its most delectable: Verdi's opera explores the delicate balance of fidelity and temptation. Conspiracy and loyalty. Anger and revenge.

This production is set in Verdi's originally intended locale: Stockholm, Sweden. The opera takes place at a masked ball laden with love and yearning, jealousy, and betrayal—no grander setup for Verdiís glorious arias and ensembles.

In a tale of assassination, conspiracy, and hidden identities, King Gustav III, sung by Vinson Cole, lusts for his best friend's wife, Amelia, sung by Carol Vaness. Amelia is innocent, but the two are torn with desire for each other. What transpires is opera at its best, with unforgettable melodies, a dramatic and comprehensible plot, and exquisite singing.
