WINE, WOMEN, AND SONG: EXPLORING THE LIFE OF PUCCINI--From its tumultuous personal scandals to its stormy professional rivalries, Puccini's life could make for an exciting opera plot all on its own. Using musical excerpts from his many operas, Education Associate Jonathan Dean explores Puccini's life and music and the global explosion of opera during Puccini's "reign" as Italy's premier composer. The setting for this event is high atop the Smith Tower in the renowned Chinese Room. You'll ride the city's only manually operated elevator to the top of the Tower where you'll enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and the view from the specatular open-air observation deck. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the lecture begins at 7 p.m. Space is limited. RSVP by Friday, January 14, by calling 206-676-5553 or e-mailing bravo@seattleopera.org.
