Bio

A native of Vienna, Wolfram Skalicki designed scenery for opera, ballet, and theatrical productions in Europe, North America, and South America. For the Canadian Opera Company, his numerous productions include Richard Strauss’s Elektra, which will be seen at Seattle Opera in 2008. His long association with San Francisco Opera began in 1962 with his sets for the company premiere of Stravinksy's Rake’s Progress. Additional designs for San Francisco include the complete 1967-1972 Ring cycle, Verdi's Aida, Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Meyerbeer's Africaine, Giordano's Andrea Chénier, and Johann Strauss Jr.'s Fledermaus.
