Wolfgang Holzmair


Baritone Wolfgang Holzmair makes his Seattle Opera debut as Faninal in Richard Strauss’s Rosenkavalier. His many roles in Europe include Enrico in Haydn’s Isola disabitata at Opéra National de Lyon, Pelléas in Debussy’s Pelléas et Melisande at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées (Paris), the Speaker in Mozart’s Zauberflöte at Opéra Bastille (Paris), and the Count in Richard Strauss’s Capriccio at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. In 2006, he will sing Papageno in Die Zauberflöte at Dallas Opera and Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at Opéra National de Lyon. Holzmair regularly appears in concert with Europe and the United States with such orchestras as Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Carnegie Hall, among others.
