Simeon Esper


Simeon Esper made his Seattle Opera debut in 2006 as Faninal's Major-Domo in Richard Strauss's Rosenkavalier, and has also been seen here as Sir Bruno Robertson in Bellini's Puritani and the Young Servant in Richard Strauss’s Elektra. Recent appearances for the American tenor include Dmitri in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov at Semperoper Dresden; the Steersman in Wagner’s Fliegende Holländer, with Deutsche Oper am Rhein; the tenor in Weill’s Mahagonny Sonsgspiel and Seven Deadly Sins at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées; and Mr. Upfold in Britten’s Albert Herring at Opéra Comique and in Rouen. Other performances include Beppe in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacciand Heinrich der Schreiber in Wagner’s Tannhäuser in San Diego, Sellem in Stravinsksy’s Rake’s Progress at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, and Schapkin in Janácek’s From the House of the Dead at Opera Bonn. Esper’s upcoming roles include Sam Kaplan in Weill’s Street Scene in Dresden and Billy in Weill’s Mahagonny Songspiel at Theatre an der Wien.
