Scott Piper was last seen at Seattle Opera as Rodolfo in Puccini’s Bohème, and will return in 2010 as Edgardo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. Recent performances for Piper include Don José in Bizet’s Carmen and Rodolfo at Israeli Opera, and Edgardo at Tulsa Opera. Other roles for the tenor include Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at Florentine Opera Company and Vancouver Opera, Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca in Salt Lake City, and Malcolm in Verdi’s Macbeth, the Steersman in Wagner’s Fliegende Holländer, and Don José at New York City Opera. Piper has also sung Alfredo in Verdi’s Traviata in Hartford and in Busseto, Italy, Steva Buryja in Janácek’s Jenufa at Glimmerglass Opera, Curiazio in Mercadante’s Orazi e Curiazi, Narraboth in Richard Strauss’s Salome and Peter Quint in Britten’s Turn of the Screw in Cincinnati, Radames in Verdi’s Aida in Ravenna, and Sam Polk in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah in Hartford. He has sung the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto at Michigan Opera Theatre, Opera Roanoke, Virginia Opera, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City. This spring he will sing the title role in Gounod’s Faust in Tel Aviv and Dayton.
