Sarah Heltzel made her Seattle Opera debut in 2005 as Siegrune and Flosshilde in Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen. As a Seattle Opera Young Artist, Heltzel performed the role of Cherubino in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro and Miss Jessel in Britten’s Turn of the Screw. She has performed at Tacoma Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and Dicapo Opera Theatre, as well as with Seattle Symphony, New York Symphonic Ensemble, and Boston Chamber Music Society. Her performances include the title roles in Bizet’s Carmen and Offenbach’s Grande Duchess de Gérolstein, the Marquise de Merteuil in Susa's Dangerous Liaisons, Mère Marie in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Giulietta in Offenbach’s Contes d’Hoffmann, Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther, Hermia in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Second Lady in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, and the Messenger in Monteverdi’s Orfeo. Concert performances Verdi's Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. She was seen most recently at Seattle Opera as Siegrune and returns in October as Flora in Verdi’s Traviata.
