Marionette Construction and Instruction
Rob D’Arc makes his Seattle Opera debut for Les contes d’Hoffmann. An artist, writer, sculptor, and puppeteer, he has worked with the French puppet troupe Les Marmouset, Knott’s Berry Farm, Medieval Times, the Renaissance Pleasure Fair, and the Orange Blossom Festival. D’Arc has constructed masks and puppets for several theater productions as well. He founded Kidstuff Puppet Theater in Riverside, California, and served as a California Arts Council “Artist in Schools.” In 2001 and 2002, D’Arc supervised the creation of prosthetic makeup for SeaWorld San Diego’s Terrors of the Deep. His puppet show/neo-vaudevillian act, “Professor Humbug’s Flea Circus,” can be seen in Seattle at Pike Place Market and Moisture Festival 2005 when he is not on tour.
