Maria Zifchak’s many appearances at the Metropolitan Opera include Meg Page in Verdi’s Falstaff, Mercédés in Bizet’s Carmen, Wellgunde in Wagner’s Rheingold and Götterdämmerung, Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and Hermia in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. This season at the Met, she also sings Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (a role she has also sung at Arizona Opera). In the United States, Zifchak has sung Vitige in Handel’s Flavio at New York City Opera, Isabella in Rossini’s Italiana in Algeri at Opera Festival of New Jersey; the title role in Rossini’s Cenerentola at Utah Festival Opera and the OK Mozart International Festival, the Composer in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos at Opera North, and Cintia and Laldomine in Giordano’s Cena delle beffe for Teatro Grattacielo at Lincoln Center. Abroad, Zifchak sang Adalgisa in Bellini’s Norma at the Teatro Colon de Bogotá. She has appeared in concert with Opera Orchestra of New York at Carnegie Hall, the Salzburg Festival, Oratorio Society of New York at Carnegie Hall, and the National Chorale at Avery Fisher Hall, among others. Zifchak makes her Seattle Opera debut as Dorabella in Così fan tutte.
