Maria Streijffert makes her U.S. debut with these performances. At Stockholm’s Royal Opera, Streijffert recently sang Erda in Wagner’s Siegfried and Dalila in Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila, and has also performed Dame Quickly in Verdi’s Falstaff and Second Maid in Richard Strauss’s Elektra with the company. Other roles in her native Sweden include Penelope in Monteverdi’s Ritorno d’Ulisse in patria at Swedish Baroque Festival, Arnalta in Monteverdi’s Incoronazione di Poppea in Malmö, Theodorine in Offenbach’s Île de Tulipatan at Norrland Opera, Sonjetka in Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at Värmland Opera, and Hippolyta in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream at Malmö Opera. Elsewhere in Europe, she has sung Fernando in Conti’s Don Chisciotte in Sierra Morena at Innsbruck Festival and Beaune Baroque Music Festival, and Philoktet in Handel’s Orest at Komische Oper Berlin. In concert, she has sung Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Bach’s Weinachtsoratorium with the Aalborg Symphony Orhcestra, Handel’s Messiah with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Sönderjylland Symphony Orchestra, and Mozart’s Requiem with the Sjaelland Symphony Orchestra.
