Margarita De Arellano
Margarita De Arellano is a regular performer at Munich’s Bayerische Staatsoper. Her recent performances there include the title role in Monteverdi’s Incoronazione di Poppea, Atalanta in Handel’s Xerxes, Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (which she also sang for the Canary Islands Music Festival), and Musetta, the role in which she makes her debut at Seattle Opera in 2007. De Arellano has also performed Musetta at Deutsche Oper Berlin (in her debut there), at Vienna Staatsoper, and at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Other recent roles are Autonoe in Hans Werner Henze’s Bassarids (Amsterdam), Violetta in Verdi’s Traviata (Stuffgart and Athens), Anne Truelove in Stravinsky’s Rake’s Progress (Munich), the title roles in Berg’s Lulu (Munich) and Lehár’s Merry Widow (Tel Aviv), and Vitellia in Mozart’s Clemenza di Tito (Barcelona). As a concert artist she has appeared with the Berlin Philharmonic in Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasilieras no. 5, the Vienna Philharmonic in Mahler’s Symphony no. 2, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos.
