Marcus DeLoach makes his Seattle Opera debut in 2007 as Schaunard in Puccini’s Bohème. He has been on New York City Opera’s roster for six seasons, performing, among other roles, Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro, the Satyr and Citheron in Rameau’s Platée, Slim in Carlisle Floyd’s Of Mice and Men, and Schaunard. He has appeared regularly with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and has also performed Harlequin in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos at Des Moines Metro Opera and the Narrator in Britten’s Paul Bunyan with Central City Opera. In concert he has appeared numerous times with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Marilyn Horne Foundation and has performed a solo recital in London’s Wigmore Hall. DeLoach has also toured the Eastern United States and Canada with the rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He recently premiered his first opera libretto, The Train Ride, set to music by Jeff Grace at the American Opera Projects in New York City.
