Julie Makerov

This 2003 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Grand Finalist makes her Seattle Opera debut with these performances of Die Fledermaus. Julie Makerov is the winner of several awards, including the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation Competition, Portland Opera’s Eleanor Lieber Awards, and the Loren L. Zachary Awards. She has sung frequently in her native California. She has a close association with Opera San José, where, as resident artist for the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons, she performed five leading roles: Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Leonora in Verdi’s Trovatore, Alice Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust, and Cio-Cio-San in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. In 2003, she made her debut with Sarasota Opera in the title role of Puccini’s Tosca. Makerov returned to Sarasota as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni during the 2004/05 season, and she will reprise the role of Rosalinde there in March.
