Jane Giering-De Haan
Jane Giering-De Haan has sung the role of Zerbinetta at Carnegie Hall with Philadelphia Orchestra and at Hamburg State Opera. This American soprano has numerous other credits in Germany and Austria: as a member of Deutsche Oper Berlin, she has sung, among other roles, Rosina in Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia, Cupid in Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers, Adele in Johann Strauss, Jr.’s Fledermaus, and Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide. She has appeared with many North American companies as well, including L’Opéra de Montréal, Houston Grand Opera, Washington Opera, and Florentine Opera. Giering-De Haan made her Seattle Opera debut in 1995 as Woglinde in Wagner’s Rheingold and Götterdämmerung and as the Forest Bird in Wagner’s Siegfried. She returned in 1997 for two Sophies—the young lady of Massenet’s Werther and the ingenue of Richard Strauss’s Rosenkavalier. In 1998, she sang Adina in Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore, and in 2001, she sang Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff. In 2003 at Seattle Opera, she sang Marzelline in Beethoven’s Fidelio. She returns to the company in 2004 as Zerbinetta.
