Gloria Parker has appeared in a wide variety of productions, from musical theater to opera, and eighteenth-century works to world premieres. She makes her Seattle Opera debut as Cornelia in Julius Caesar, a role which she has previously performed with Pittsburgh Opera. Recently, Parker appeared as Hippolyta in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream for Teatro di San Carlo in Naples and Pittsburgh Opera, sang Emma Jones in Weill’s Street Scene with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and made her London debut as featured soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall. She has also performed with New York City Opera as Mrs. De Rocher in Heggie’s Dead Man Walking and as Mother Jeanne in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites. World premieres have included Dahlia in Stewart Copeland’s Holy Blood and Crescent Moon for Cleveland Opera and Sandra in David MacIntyre’s Architect for Vancouver Opera.
