Deyan Vatchkov


Bulgarian bass Deyan Vatchkov made his U.S. opera debut as Giorgio in Bellini’s Puritani at Palm Beach Opera in 2005 and appears for the first time at Seattle Opera as Colline in Puccini’s Bohème in 2007. His growing career has included Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Don Basilio in Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia at Teatro alla Scala (where he was also a member of La Scala’s Young Artists Academy). Other appearances include Don Basilio in Trieste, Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Angelotti in Puccini’s Tosca in Genoa, the King in Verdi’s Aida and Zuniga in Bizet’s Carmen at Arena di Verona, and Timur in Puccini’s Turandot with Canadian Opera Company and the Sferisterio Opera Festival. Future engagements include Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni in Tokyo and Bellini’s Norma in Reggio Calabria.
