David McFerrin recently sang the role of Roderick’s Friend in Debussy’s Fall of the House of Usher at Opera Français de New York and Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte at Boston Midsummer Opera. Other performances include Mr. Webb in Ned Rorem’s Our Town, Nardo in Mozart’s Finta Giardiniera, and Aeneas in a concert version of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with Miami’s Seraphic Fire. In 2008 he made his international debut singing Taddeo in Rossini’s Italiana in Algeri at the Rossini Festival in Germany. He sang the role of Paul in the 2008 Amelia workshop and makes his Seattle Opera debut in the production. McFerrin received a 2008 Richard F. Gold Career Grant, and placed second in the 2008 New England Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Concert credits include Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 at St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, Bernstein’s Concerto for Orchestra with the Israeli Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall, Bach’s St. John’s Passion, and Haydn’s Creation, among many others. Upcoming performances include the role of Pallante in Handel’s Agrippina with Boston Lyric Opera, and concerts with the Boston Pops and Tanglewood.
