D’Arcy Bleiker made his U.S. opera debut as Alvaro in Seattle Opera’s 2005 production of Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas. Engagements in his native England include several roles with Glyndebourne Opera: Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and the Sergeant in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut at Glyndebourne Festival as well as Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro and Masetto with Glyndebourne’s touring company. With Garsington Opera he has sung Farfallo in Richard Strauss’s Schweigsame Frau and His Excellency Potemkin in Tchaikovsky’s Cherevichki. Bleiker made his Royal Opera Covent Garden debut in 2002 as the Wigmaker in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos; he sang the Harlekin in the same opera at Welsh National Opera last September. Other credits for this recipient of the Wagner Society’s Bayreuth Bursary Prize include Masetto with Royal Swedish Opera, the title role of Don Giovanni with English Touring Opera, and concert performances as Don Fernando in Beethoven’s Fidelio with National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.
