Northwest soprano Dana Johnson returns to Seattle Opera for Richard Strauss’s Elektra, after having been last seen in Richard Strauss's Rosenkavalier in 2006. Other roles with the company include Kate in Moore’s Ballad of Baby Doe (1992), Young Girl in Floyd’s Passion of Jonathan Wade, the Page in Verdi’s Rigoletto (1995), Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen (1995), one of the Madrigal Singers in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut (2005), and Ida in Johann Strauss, Jr.’s Fledermaus. At Opera San José, Johnson has sung Pamina in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Valencienne in Lehàr’s Lustige Witwe. At Tacoma Opera, Johnson sang the role of Mimì in Puccini’s Bohème in 2006, and created the role of Olga in the world premiere of Carol Sams’ Pied Piper of Hamelin.
