Ann Hould-Ward’s opera design credits include Britten’s Peter Grimes at the Metropolitan Opera, Loesser’s Most Happy Fella at New York City Opera, and Weill’s Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny for Los Angeles Opera, Sondheim’s Little Night Music for Houston Grand Opera, and Blitzstein’s Regina for Miami Opera. Hould-Ward’s work has been seen in such Broadway productions as A Catered Affair, Company, Falsettos, Dance of the Vampires, and Hamlet, among others. She won a Tony Award and West End Olivier award nominations for her costume design in Beauty and the Beast (appearing in 30 international companies), and was nominated for her work in Sunday in the Park with George and Into the Woods. Her costumes have been seen at San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Lar Lubovitch Dance Compnay, and in over 150 regional theater productions across the U.S. Her work has been represented in Berlin and London and in Ringling Brothers Circus and Ben Hur Live in European arenas. Hould-Ward makes her Seattle Opera debut with her designs for Amelia.
