Allen Moyer has designed sets for numerous theater, opera, and ballet productions. He designed Bizet’s Carmen for Seattle Opera; Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at the Metropolitan Opera and at Glimmerglass; Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and Rossini’s Viaggio a Reims at New York City Opera; the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s Grapes of Wrath at Minnesota Opera; Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio at Houston Grand Opera; Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore at Opera Colorado; Verdi’s Falstaff, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Handel’s Agrippina, and Richard Strauss’s Daphne at Santa Fe; and Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Bellini’s Puritani at Opera Theatre St. Louis. He has also designed for Pittsburgh Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, San Francisco Opera, Scottish Opera, as well as the San Francisco Ballet. His Broadway credits include Thurgood, Little Dog Laughed, The Constant Wife, and Twelve Angry Men. His set design for the Off-Broadway production of Grey Gardens was nominated for a Drama Desk Award, and his sets for the Broadway run were nominated for a Tony Award. Other Off-Broadway productions include Well, Lobby Hero, and This Is Our Youth.
