Albert Bonnema


Dutch tenor Albert Bonnema first sang in the title role of Wagner’s Lohengrin at the Landestheater Linz and has since sung the role at the De Nederlandse Opera, New National Theatre of Tokyo, the Bavarian State Opera, and Dresden State Opera. Other Wagnerian roles include Erik in Der fliegende Holländer, the title role of Tannhäuser, Walther in Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg, and Siegfried in Götterdämmerung. Bonnema has sung at Deutsche Oper, Berlin Komische Oper, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Olympic Arts Festival, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, and Salzburger Festspiele among other European venues. His other roles include Dmitri in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, Bacchus in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, Menelaus in Richard Strauss’s Agyptische Helana, Steva in Janacek’s Jenufa, Alwa in Berg’s Lulu, the title role in Britten’s Peter Grimes, and the title role of Zemlinksy’s König Kandaules. He made his Seattle Opera debut as Lohengrin in 2004.
