WATCH: Video Trailer Featuring Stefan Vinke as Siegfried at Deutsche Oper Berlin

German tenor Stefan Vinke studied with Edda Moser at the Music Academy of Cologne and was immediately engaged by the Staatstheater Karlsruhe in Germany. In 1996, as he began specializing in Heldentenor roles, he received a scholarship from Bayreuth. He sang for six seasons with Nationaltheater Mannheim, making his U.S. debut with the Opera Company of Philadelphia as Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos. He sang his first Tristan in Halle in 2004, and his first Siegfried in Cologne, and in 2005/06, he was engaged by Leipzig Opera to sign the lead tenor roles in all their Wagner productions. He has since sung Siegfried in Leipzig, Venice, Lisbon, Cologne, Berlin, and Salzburg and has plans to sing it in London, Seattle, and Shanghai. In the summer of 2008, he sang his first Tannhäuser at the Eutiner Festival, and in 2009 sang his first Siegfried in Götterdämmerung at La Fenice before completing the Ring Cycle in Lisbon. The following year, after singing Tristan in Cologne and Lohengrin in both Stuttgart and Leipzig, Vinke undertook Siegfried in the entire Ring Cycle in Cologne and Berlin, and he completed his Wagner repertoire with Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in Leipzig.
