Sarah Larsen grew up in Roseville, MN, and attended Simpson College (B.M.) and Rice University (M.M.). She continued her training with young artist residencies at Sarasota Opera, Virginia Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, and the Aspen Opera Theater Center. Larsen began 2011 with Sarasota Opera, where she performed Sofia in I Lombardi and covered Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Elizabeth Proctor (The Crucible). A 2008 alumna of the Wolf Trap Opera Studio, she returned to Wolf Trap this past April to create the role of Sarelda in the world premiere of John Musto and Mark Campbell’s The Inspector. Larsen also returned to Glimmerglass Opera for a second summer as a Young American Artist, where she performed Neris in Cherubini’s Medea and covered Estelle Oglethorpe in Later the Same Evening. As a Seattle Opera Young Artist in 2011/12, she sang Charlotte in the YAP production of Werther, and made her mainstage debut as Mercédès in Carmen before singing Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. In 2012/13, she’ll perform the roles of Tisbe in La Cenerentola and First Tourière in Suor Angelica on the mainstage, as well as Giulietta in the YAP’s Un Giorno di Regno.
