Keith Chambers was appointed Assistant Conductor of New York City Opera in 2007 and is the Director of the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Emerging Artist Program for Opera New Jersey. He has conducted for Amarillo Opera (Tosca), Asheville Lyric Opera (Roméo et Juliette), American Opera Projects (Nora, In the Great Outdoors), New York Lyric Opera (Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci, Suor Angelica, Le nozze di Figaro, Rigoletto, L’elisir d’amore, Hansel & Gretel, La bohème), American Lyric Theater (The Poe Project), The Living Opera (Hansel & Gretel, Le nozze di Figaro, Don Pasquale, The Pirates of Penzance), Halifax Summer Opera (Giulio Cesare), Moores Opera Center (Die Fledermaus, La finta giardiniera), Sugar Land Opera (The Station), Martha Cardona Opera Theater (Cavalleria rusticana, Tosca and Gianni Schicchi) and Opera in the Ozarks (Don Giovanni & L’elisir d’amore). He has served on faculty of the Seattle Opera Young Artist Program and the RESONANZ Festival and is past Artistic Director of The Living Opera and Chorus Master/Music Director of Shreveport Opera. Additional performances include Toledo Opera, Opera Saratoga, Connecticut Opera, Center for Contemporary Opera, and Lake George Opera. Mr. Chambers established an Apprentice Coach program in 2009 as part of Opera New Jersey’s highly acclaimed summer festival season. He has appeared as concerto soloist with the Delaware Symphony, Clear Lake Symphony, and Naples Philharmonic, and often performs with his wife, soprano Kirsten Chambers.
