			Maestro Sutej has served as music director and principal 
			conductor of Houston Grand Opera since 1993, where he has 
			conducted many productions including Donizetti's Lucia di 
			Lammermoor, Verdi's Attila, Rigoletto, and La traviata, 
			Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, Bizet's Carmen, Puccini's Bohème, 
			Giordano's Andrea Chénier, R. Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos, 
			and the world premiere of Florencia in October 1996. He was 
			music director of the Teatro la Fenice in Venice from 1990-93 
			and has served as music director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de 
			Sevilla. He has conducted Verdi's Trovatore and Don Carlo and 
			Puccini's Bohème and Tosca at the Vienna State Opera.. In this 
			country he has conducted Bizet's Carmen with San Francisco 
			Opera and Puccini's Bohème with Washington and Tulsa Operas. 
			Sutej, a native of Zagreb, Croatia, made his Seattle Opera 
			debut conducting Florencia en el Amazonas in 1998.
