Stephen Terrell
Director
Stephen Terrell made his Seattle Opera debut choreographing Moore’s Ballad of Baby Doe in 1992 and returned to choreograph Lehár’s Merry Widow and Bizet’s Pêcheurs de perles. In 1997, he directed his first Seattle Opera mainstage production, Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro, which he later restaged for Minnesota Opera. He returned to Seattle Opera in 2000 to direct and choreograph Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. Terrell has directed a variety of productions for theaters in this region, including Seattle Repertory Theatre, The 5th Avenue Theatre, ACT Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Group Theater, and Village Theatre. As a director and choreographer, he has several productions to his credit with Goodspeed Musicals, Baltimore Center Stage, Dallas Theatre Center, Theatre under the Stars, and Tacoma Actors’ Guild. He also directed and choreographed Warrender’s Das Barbecü during the 1995 Ring in Seattle. Terrell’s choreography for the touring production of Houston Grand Opera’s revival of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess has been seen at Teatro alla Scala, Paris Opéra -Bastille, and Teatro Real in Madrid.
