Sarah Nash Gates
Costume Designer
Gates made her Seattle Opera debut designing the costumes for the 1986 production of R. Strauss's Salome. She has designed costumes for a wide range of opera and theater productions at companies such as the Aspen Music Festival, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the Ringling Brothers Circus. She has designed costumes for Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre, ACT, Alley Theatre, Denver Centre Theatre Company, and Tacoma Actors Guild. Gates' work was twice included at the Prague Quadrennial, receiving an award each time. She is currently executive director of the School of Drama at the University of Washington.
